Frequently Asked Questions
1. What exactly is an audiobiography?
A beautifully crafted audio memoir: guided conversations, gentle music, and thoughtful editing that let future generations hear your loved one’s life stories in their own voice.
2. Who is this service for?
Busy adult children or grandchildren who want to capture a parent’s or grandparent’s story—but don’t have the time, interviewing skills, or editing know-how to do it alone.
3. How does the experience work?
Discover & Define – Free 30-min Discovery Call → tailored proposal
Chat & Capture – one-hour child briefing + 2x 2-hr parent sessions (via Riverside)
Reflect & Refine – you review the draft → we polish → final hand-over.
All scheduling and tech are handled for you; you simply show up and talk.
4. Do we need special equipment?
Just a quiet spot, decent Wi-Fi and Riverside. We send you a high-quality mic or guide you through phone settings if needed. For the smoothest recording, open the Riverside link on a computer using Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge. Mobile and Tablet apps exist but don’t capture the same quality in our experience.
5. Can more than one child or parent join the project?
Absolutely. In fact, the more family members, the richer the experience. We often work with siblings interviewing both parents, or blended families sharing the mic. Tell us your set-up during the Discovery call and we’ll tailor the flow.
6. What’s covered in the 1-hour briefing with each child?
Ahead of the call you’ll get a short primer to spark ideas. You’ll also receive a short form to complete, and then in the hour we:
Shape the themes you’d love explored
Share the memories and angles you think will light up your loved one.
Guided, relaxed, and pressure-free.
7. Who owns the recordings and what happens to the unused bits?
Your parents own their words; we own the physical recording so we can craft the story.
Storage: raw and edited audio live in an encrypted vault for three months after delivery, then we either archive or delete—your call.
Access: you receive the finished audiobook to enjoy privately, forever. Want the raws? Just ask within those three months.
Publicity: nothing is shared unless you tick “Yes,” “Yes—check with me first,” or “No.”
Full details live in our Terms & Conditions.
8. How do payments work—full upfront or staged?
Full payment upfront keeps everything smooth and light on admin. If spreading the cost helps, we can follow one simple staged plan:
50 % to secure the booking and begin prep
25 % after the children’s briefing recordings
25 % once the parent sessions finish (before editing/delivery)
9. On the Glow Package the 12-week timeline feels tight—what if we over-run?
The 12-week guide keeps momentum and memories fresh, but it isn’t rigid. We’ll always work around family schedules and energy levels. Ideally the two parent sessions happen within a fortnight to keep stories connected.
10. What if my Dad / Mum / Partner changes their mind after Session 1?
We’ll polish and share whatever’s been captured so far (if you’d like it). A 25 % fee then applies to the remaining sessions—simply to cover prep work and diary time already committed. If they feel ready later, we pick up where we left off.
11. Illness, treatments—or something more final—interrupt the project: what then?
Pausing is never a problem. If your loved one becomes too unwell—or passes away—we finish and deliver whatever is recorded. A similar 25 % fee may apply to unused sessions, but every case is handled with compassion.
12. Can my loved one meet you before we commit?
Yes. A short, friendly “Meet & Greet” call is built into the process so they can ask questions and get comfortable.
13. How do we get started?
